Festivals, parades, seasonal celebrations – Florida’s Historic Coast has an annual calendar chock full of events that appeal to a wide variety of interests. The following are just a sampling of some of the most popular events in St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and The Beaches.
First Friday Art Walk
From 5 – 9 p.m. on the first Friday of every month, new exhibits, music, entertainment and refreshments are featured at over 20 galleries in St. Augustine. A complimentary shuttle service to most galleries is provided by St. Augustine Sightseeing Trains and Old Town Trolleys from the San Sebastian Winery.
Uptown Saturday Night
From 5 – 9 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month, experience live music, refreshments, shopping and much more on St. Augustine’s San Marco Ave., between Ripley’s Museum and the Mission Nombre de Dios.
Florida U-Pick farms are fun for the whole family. Not only are you outside enjoying the delicious Florida sunshine, but there’s an excellent opportunity to appreciate the role of the farmer in our daily lives.
Both children and adults love picking fresh fruits and vegetables straight from the farm and maybe even sneaking in a quick taste when no one is looking. 😉 And children who pick their own vegetables are much more likely to enjoy eating them when they’re served at the table.
If you’re not careful, you might drive right past it near Crawfordville on your Northern Florida road trip. “Hey, were those a bunch of rusty old cars and trucks lined up beside the road?”, you might even ask as they quickly fade in your rear view mirror. If you’re like me, the urge to photograph these beauties will likely override your previous schedule and you’ll just have to stop to see them for yourself. Finding the old Ford truck graveyard isn’t easy, but for antique car buffs and photographers it’s definitely worth a stop when exploring the back roads of US Highway 319 in Northern Florida.
When most people think of a visit to the Florida during the winter months of December through early April, it’s usually to escape the bitter cold of more northern climates. But an added bonus of warm sunshine and not having to shovel snow is seeing the Florida manatees in their natural winter habitat. Read more “Where to Find Florida Manatees – Florida’s Winter Guests”
